Reality star Maria has spoken from detention in Ghana, confirming that she indeed has the coronavirus.
News of the BBNaija alum being held against her will circulated the internet recently and it was alleged that it was a ploy by the Ghanaian authorities to maltreat Nigerians in the country.
Speaking via her Instagram stories, Maria thanked fans for their concern and while confirming the COVID-19 diagnosis, assured everyone that she was doing well.
According to her, the result first came back negative when she was in Dubai but upon arriving in Ghana, she tested positive for the virus.
Maria urged fans not to take the pandemic for granted, adding that they should not be stubborn like her. She further revealed that she will remain in Ghana until she recovers fully.
“My heartbeats, I heard you were all concerned about me”, she wrote, “Thank you so much for your kind messages.
“Unfortunately, I have tested positive for COVID-19 but I can reassure you I am doing really well. I initially had a negative result from Dubai less than 24 hours of coming into Ghana.
“Upon arrival in Ghana, I tested positive and was asked to quarantine. I got a different doctor who tested me negative again.
“We had so many back and forth results of positives and negatives. But finally, I have tested positive.
“Please, do not take COVID for granted and don’t try to be as stubborn as myself always. I have been placed in the best possible care and receiving treatment.
“I will be in Ghana until I am fully recovered and tested negative. I love you all and cannot wait to get back to work.”
