Two people are still missing after a fire destroyed nearly 1,000 homes in the US state of Colorado. The incident which happened on Thursday, destroyed neighbourhoods in the towns of Superior and Louisville.
Authorities continue to investigate the source of the fire, claiming that it spread rapidly with the help of high winds.
County Sheriff, Joe Pelle has said that authorities had placed a search rescue team as two people who lived in homes that were destroyed by the fire are still missing.
In a statement by the White House on Friday, it was claimed that US President, Joe Biden held a phone call with Colorado state Governor, Jared Polis and pledged to provide immediate help to the affected people.
The President also announced a major disaster declaration for Colorado on Saturday, making federal funding available to affected individuals and communities.
And the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) said in a statement calling for help on the incident that “Assistance can come in grants for temporary housing, house repairs, low-cost loans to cover uninsured property losses and other programs to help individuals and business owners recover from the effects of the disaster.”
